Environmental Education Project in Senegal

This project is related to an existing elementary school in Dakar. Ibrahima Diallo, is the school Headmaster. His school is in a neighborhood where the children have very little exposure to the natural environment. The school courtyard is pure sand and open to the hot sun with little shade. The Headmaster and his teaching staff work with the children to plant trees in the courtyard and are teaching the children how to care for and respect the trees. Ibrahima is interested in developing a learning program for these students that leverages what has been accomplished thus far. He strongly believes that teaching children how to care for the environment at this stage in life is crucial to the future of our world.

We at ISLE agree with him. He hopes to develop a program that can serve as a pilot example for other schools in Senegal and West Africa.

We have set up a crowdfunding page, so please, if you can contribute, we would be very grateful!

Watch the short video clips so you can see the courtyard, the children, and the teaching staff in action!
